I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think about the future. We dream, we plan, we prepare, we worry, we fret. We’re concerned about our health, our finances, our relationships, our retirement. We reflect: “I’m okay now, but will I be okay THEN? What might happen that I’m not ready for? How can I prepare? What if?
“What if?” is a dangerous road to travel. Most of the time our minds go negative. That’s why I think Jesus said this: “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34
So, live in the now, be present in the present. Deal with the trouble that presents itself today for there is enough of that. And, like Jesus, pray for “daily bread.” Don’t ask for tomorrow’s bread today. And don’t plan on taking today’s bread into tomorrow. Tomorrow you’ll need and want fresh bread.
And, thank God that you don’t know the future. It’s a sign of His grace that you don’t.
